MECHANICAL ENGINEERING STUDENT LOOKING TO INNOVATE
OLIN BAJA SAE 2017-2018 I have the pleasure and honor of serving as Project Manager for the Olin SAE Baja Team. I provide design input and mentoring as well as project management on the team. Additionally, I coordinate design & management decisions within the team.
OLIN BAJA SAE 2015-2017 Responsible for Olin Baja's drivetrain subsystem for the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 competition years. Managed a fluid group of 4-6 people to redesign the gearbox to be 7 pounds or 30% lighter, and nearly 20% narrower as compared to that of the previous year while still being reverse compatible with last year`s unit. Additionally implemented changes include a new CVT, streamlined guarding and moving the failure mode to be non-destructive to the system. Emphasis placed on Design for Manufacturing and Design for Serviceability. Using mainly SolidWorks and SolidWorks Simulation for design.
UBER ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES GROUP - HARDWARE INTERN 2017- Designed and conducted qualification testing on fluidic and pneumatic camera cleaning prototype. Provided summaries and suggestions instrumental to converging on final design. Utilized Solidworks, arduino, and python to design and construct set-up and extensively worked to troubleshoot electrical system for legacy controls circuit.
EQUATING SEVERITY IN QUALIFICATION TESTING 2016 - At LANL, I collaboratively created model for predicting damage in qualification testing across simulated and real testing environments. Derived analytical model to parametrize severity in a cumulative damage model. Employed MATLAB, LabVIEW, and Abaqus for signal processing, data collection, and validation.
UNDER-ACTUATED PERCHING LANDING GEAR FOR UAVS 2015 - Collaboratively designed and tested successful landing gear for bird-sized UAVs to perch on unknown and irregular geometries. Included MATLAB modeling, SolidWorks modeling, 3D printing prototypes, and analytical optimization of model geometry.
SENIOR CAPSTONE PROGRAM - TE CONNECTIVITY - Currently working in a group of 5 on "innovative new designs for actuators to be used in aircraft." More information forthcoming.
FEA CLASS - Completed a course exploring Finite Element Analysis in multiple fashions like static, explicit, thermal, frequency, and topological optimization. Case studies included static and explicit studies on Olin Baja's gears, optimization of a vibration table mount, and cooling of water. Final project was an exploration of the decomposition of shock response spectra into acceleration time histories with varying parameters and a study on the effects of each on the parameter level. Used Solidworks and ANSYS.
FARMBOT - Worked on mechanical designs for a CNC farming robot. My main contributions were in designing interchangeable tools, and aiding with the gantry design. My tools are designed with machineability and scaleability in mind.
GRATER DESIGN AND OPTIMIZATION - Working on compact and low cost cassava graters and presses to deploy in Ghana. Focus is on lowering cost and increasing ease of use. More information forthcoming.
COOKY CREATIONS - a start-up company formed for a class. Products produced and sold entirely by 5 person team.
HYPERLOOP POD COMPETITION - Part of the Olin Hyperloop team for the Hyperloop Pod Design Competition. Designed a seating and restraint system and tested an emergency brake system.
PROJECT JABBERWOCKY- top 10 MakeMIT project that plays pictionary with the user by choosing a random object and drawing it on a piece of paper and listening for the user`s guesses. I worked on the successful Amazon Alexa interface
